Many cities in Western Persia (Iran) had Syriac Orthodox dioceses and communities and they were under the jurisdication of the Syriac Orthodox Maphrianate of the East. Below is a partial list of them
Azerbayjan: a vast territory whose boundaries extended from the Caspian Sea in the east to Lake Van in the west.
Beth Parsaye
Maraga: A most famous town of Azerbayjan, south of Tabriz and east of Lake Urmia.
Sistan
Sus: a town in Khuzistan (Ahwaz); the ancient Susa.
Tabriz (Tawriz): a very famous town of Azerbayjan.
Urmia: in north western Persia
