Village of Tell Aryawon
About 20 Syriac families lived in this village. The village leader was a Kurd, Suleyman Abbas. Half the village was owned by the Syriac family, Abbo, but seven Kurdish families lived among them. The prominent residents in the village included Chachan Abbo, Petrus Bshariye and Tuma Khano.
When the village leader, Suleyman Abbas, heard of the atrocities in Duger, his brother Mohammad's village, he rode to Duger to get some more information. He rushed back before sunset, called the villagers to him and told them that everything that had been told about the massacre of the Syriac people was true. He told them to go hide in the mountains to save themselves and leave the women and children behind as it will slow them down and later he will send them to Mor Bobo." On that very same night, the men fled, and reached Mor Bobo and on the third night, Suleyman Abbas sent for five Arabs, giving each thirty sheep and told them to escort these Syriac families to Mor Bobo, and see to it that no harm befalls them." The Arabs swore that they would obey these conditions and they took the families to Mor Bobo and returned.
