Syriac Monasteries in Persia and Asia

• Monastery of Mor Dauod: Was located in the Eynali mountains north of Tabriz, Iran. Saint Mor Dodo stayed there for few years.

• Monastery in Azerbaijan: Build by Gregorius Bar 'Ebroyo near Maragha in Azerbaijan. He lived in this monastery the last few years of his life and died there. His body was later moved to Dayro d'Mor Mattai and was buried there.

• Monastery of Mor Sergius: This monastery was built by Saint Mor Younanon Daylamaya on Mount Fars, situated near the city of Arkan when he was exiled to the are on the border between Persia and Khuzestan for the Perian monks who gathered around him. 

• Monastery on the Tab River: Following a jurisdictional and linguistic dispute between Persian-speaking and Syriac-speaking monks at his first monastery in Arjan, Mor Yohanna constructed a second monastery nearby. This facility was built on the opposite bank of the Tab River specifically to accommodate the Syriac-speaking monks community. He added a church dedicated to Mary to this complex. Tenth-century geographical records document an engineered stone bridge across the Tab River attributed to Mor Yohanna, designed to connect the settlements and facilitate transit for travelers and pilgrims. Traditional accounts hold that Mar Yohanna died and was buried at his monastery in this region.

The Monastery's Church in Maragha, Azerbaijan were Gregorius Bar Ebroyo lived the last few years of his life and died there in 1286 AD
